Welcome to your second semester! Now that you've gotten a peek at the coming year's schedule, it's time to choose your classes and make sure you have all the required reading material! Below you'll find all of your resources for the coming semester. We wish you luck in all of your endeavors (let your advisors know if you need any help in your selections, or need a tutor along the way)!

Claiming Guidelines
  • We are operating under Korean Standard Time (KST). Claiming opens on July 13th at 9am.
  • Claiming is first come, first serve; and is open from July 13th to August 26th.
  • You are allowed to claim more than one prompt! We only ask that you complete and submit your first prompt before you claim another. Writers who finish early, please email us so we can send you the early submission guidelines.
  • Any questions concerning your chosen prompt (or a prompt that you're interested in) can be directed towards the mods, who will contact the prompter with your question.
  • Keep in mind that when you sign up to claim a prompt, you are signing up for a commitment. Please be sure that you want to and will try your best to complete your claim! That being said, mods understand things happen in life; and we are more than willing to work with you if needed.
  • Lastly, please have fun with the claiming, there are tons of prompts to choose from and we hope you like at least one of them <3

~ Welcome to 2nd Semester ~

First off, I’d like to say welcome to everyone who is either interested or looking forward in joining us for our second round! There’s going to be quite a few changes come this year, but Mod C and I are really happy to share them with you! The first change, or addition, really, is the addition of Mod C to the team! Mod R isn’t available come this round to help out, but we were lucky to bring Mod C along to help with everything! I want to say thank you to all those that applied for the mod position, and I’m sorry that I couldn’t choose all of you. I hope that you’ll all cheer both of us on as we come into this new semester, and hope that you’re all as excited as we are to start!

Second of all, like with any fest, we do need to set some ground rules. And though there aren’t very many rules, they still need to be said just so we have some guidelines to go by when everyone is submitting prompts and then later on, sending in their claims! I’ll try to make it brief, so please bear with me:

Student Handbook

  • Exo University is a fest dedicated to college/university AUs. These are the only AUs that we will accept - as long as the main theme/plot of your prompt includes someone going to college, graduating from college, or going into college (prompts can include high school seniors getting ready for their freshman year) then your prompt will be accepted!
  • Mods have the right to decline any prompts that don’t fit with our theme.
  • We will not accept prompts that have the following themes/triggers: dub/noncon, pedophilia, incest.
  • Age gap prompts will be accepted, as long as both characters are over the age of 18.
  • At least one of the members of EXO (past and/or present) have to be part of the main pairing. Other group members are allowed (such as SHINee, SUJU, Got7, BTS, etc) just so long as half of the main pairing is an EXO member!
  • The pairings don’t have to be m/m prompts either! You can submit genderbent prompts, or prompts that include one of the EXO members with a member from a girl group (ex: Chen/Amber)

New Changes

  • This round will be held on both AO3 and Dreamwidth! Unlike last round, which was held on LJ and AO3, we will be posting all fics on AO3, and then linking them on DW. This will not be until posting though, so if you have any questions or concerns, we're certainly open for feedback!
  • As for prompting, we will have a google form available. You do not need an AO3, LJ, DW to participate in prompting. It is open to everyone, and you also do not need to commit to writing a fic if you submit a prompt. You can submit a prompt without writing and write without submitting a prompt (or you could do both!)
  • There will be a beta sign up and archive available once prompting is over and claiming has begun!
  • You do not need an AO3 to participate in the fest! Though we highly encourage it so we can link back to you after reveals, you could have a LJ, DW, AO3, AFF, Wattpad, Tumblr, etc to sign up. So long as you have something we can link back to come reveals (unless you would like to stay anonymous)

Reveals:
First of all, I want to apologize for the long hiatus from this account. The mods have both had difficult things going on, and though that is not necessarily an excuse for our lack of response and feedback, as well as posting, I still deeply apologize for how late this is. But I hope that you all still enjoyed the lovely fics that all of our writers wrote for the fest - for all of you guys. And we hope that you're able to forgive us - both writers and readers - for our missteps along the way. Please be sure to give all of the writers some love, and don't hold the late reveals against them!

Thank you all so much for your continued support and patience with us.
- Exo University Mods
Without further ado, here are the reveals:

If you see any mistakes at all, please let us know. We, the mods, will be working on the AO3 mentions for our AO3 mirror to make sure all authors that were posted on our mirror are credited as they should. Again, I want to deeply apologize for all of the inconvenience this fest has put both readers and writers in, and we hope that you can all forgive us <3

Thank you for reading, commenting, sharing, and being here with us until the end.

hi there students! the time has finally come for final submissions. Mods want to formally apologize for being a tad behind on updating, but we've both had a few personal problems that we've needed to take care of the past few weeks. Despite that, here is the final submissions format that we would like to see in your emails! Email/Message us if you have any further questions!

Reminder About Dates

  • Prompting starts on May 21st and ends on June 11th
  • Our prompt archive will be open to students for viewing on June 12th
  • Claiming starts on June 13th and ends on June 27th
  • First informal Check In (500 words) is on July 22nd
  • Last Day to Drop Out is on August 18th
  • Second Formal Check In (1000 words) is on August 20th

  • Final Check In/Submissions (1500 words) are on September 15th
  • Posting is TBD
  • Guess Who is TBD
  • Reveals is TBD

Updates

  1. Just a few updates and more information here: We've decided to extend final submissions until the 15th of September! That gives everyone 5 more days to write your fics (if you had asked for an extension between the 10th and 15th, no need to worry about it anymore, unless you still need more time).
  2. Everyone that has failed to send in 2nd Check In is, unfortunately, marked as banned from future events. We are sorry to have to do this, but we want writers that can be upfront and honest with us, rather than ignore us when deadlines come and go. Thank you to those that emailed/messaged that you needed more time, or just spoke to us in general. We greatly appreciate it!
  3. Those in need of betas for this final submission please DM us on twitter - Mod R will be happy to help everyone out with any last minute issues!
  4. Posting will be delayed to when the majority of fics have been sent into the mods and when the mods have read through all of those submitted. We want this fest and posting to go seamlessly and so posting is TBD at the moment (We will definitely start posting before the end of September, though).
  5. That's it for updates! Now onto the formatting!

Submission Format

All final submissions must be sent to the fest email in a .txt, .doc, or .docx format. Although we accepted google documents during check in, we will need everything to be in either of those three formats. Please do not copy and paste your fic into the body of the email.

  1. All emails should be sent with the subject line as follows: Final [Username] [Prompt #]
  2. In the body of your email please write the following:
    Prompt #:
    Title:
    Rating:
    Pairing:
    Summary:
    Word Count:
    Warnings:

    Author Note(s):

  3. At the top of your document, please be sure to include the same information above but with the html code so that the previous information is in italics. (If you need help with the html, one of the mods will be sure to help you with it).
  4. The same goes for all bolded or italicized words/phrases within your fic. The mods will be reading through the fics for grammatical/spelling errors, but will leave bolding/italics alone.
  5. Please be sure that your document is already formatted to fit LJ standards. If this is your first time joining a fest and you're not sure what that means, please be sure to ask one of the mods and we'll show/tell you how to format correctly.

That's it! Thank you all for coming this far with us, and if you have any further questions, please be sure to let us know!

First Check In

  • First Check In is really simple and easy! You don't have to worry about much, other than sending us a message on Twitter or (preferably) an email with how you're doing with your fic!
  • This month's check in is going to be informal, meaning you don't need to send us a file upload of your fic, just let us know how many words you have (you don't necessarily even need to be at the word limit quite yet), and where you think you're going with the fic. Below is the format we want you to send the email in:

LJ Username:
Prompt #:
Pairing:
Fic Summary:
How's it going? (are you have difficulty writing, are you flying through it?):
Current word count:

Also, please be sure to put [First Check In], [LJ user, Prompt #] in the subject of your email!

And that's it! That's all you have to send us for this time around. Second Check In will be on August 20th and that will require you to send us the above as well as an actual file upload. We hope you're all having fun with your fics and please let us know if you need help! Happy writing!

  2. Fill out the form below to claim a prompt.

  4. You are allowed to submit more than one claiming, as long as you finish your first fic and send it to us before claiming a second prompt (if you have finished, please send us an email and we will send you the format for sending in your fic early).
  5. If you have questions concerning your chosen prompt, or questions that you would like to ask the prompter, please let us know and we will answer any and all questions.
  6. Claiming ends June 27th and First Check In with 500 words is on July 22nd. More information on check in will be coming up when claiming closes.

welcome to your first semester! there are a few things that we need to go over before you can sign up for classes, but please feel free to send us any questions you may have after reading through these guidelines!

Dates to remember:

  • Prompting starts on May 21st and ends on June 11th
  • Our prompt archive will be open to students for viewing on June 12th
  • Claiming starts on June 13th and ends on June 27th
  • First informal Check In (500 words) is on July 22nd
  • Last Day to Drop Out is on August 18th
  • Second Formal Check In (1000 words) is on August 20th
  • Final Check In/Submissions (1500 words) are on September 10th
  • Posting starts on September 25th
  • Guess Who is TBD
  • Reveals is TBD

Guidelines for Prompting:

  1. You don't have to have a LJ account to prompt! However, we do need your contact information when you fill out the prompt sheet. Please be sure to give us a twitter handle, a kkt/line user, or an email address (if you give us all of these, that would be great too!)
  2. You don't need to claim a prompt to leave a prompt, or vice versa! Feel free to prompt if you don't intend to claim, and claim if you don't intend to prompt.
  3. Because our fest is focused on college! and uni! AUs, please be sure that your prompts fit that requirement. At least one member needs to be attending a college or university (whether it's in space or underwater - doesn't matter to us!)
  4. This fest is open to both OT12 as well as other groups! If you are prompting for another group, please be sure that the main character is an exo member (former or current), and to let us know in the prompt which group that member is from. For example, if you want to leave a prompt for Baekhyun and Taehyung (BTS), here's what your prompt should look like:

pairing: Baekhyun (EXO) /Taehyung (BTS/Bangtan Sonyeondan)

    rating: any

prompt: Baekhyun's been looking for a distraction from his History paper for hours now, when he stumbles into his hall's common room to run straight into Taehyung. The two realize they're both trying to distract themselves from the same assignment and instead decide to just work on it together.

extra credit: getting distracted together, cracking jokes, becoming best friends

flunked out: either of them failing their papers, never speaking to one another again

    triggers/warnings: n/a

  5. Prompts that have clear triggers are fine, but please label them well. We do not accept prompts that have the following triggers: non/dubcon, and pedophilia.
  6. Because we are an OT12-accepting fest, we will not stand for Exo-M/China-line bashing. Please do not submit a prompt that has those elements.
  7. There is such thing as a good and a bad prompt! Make sure that your prompts are not too vague or too specific/restricting. Here are some examples of good and bad prompts:

Good Prompt: Jongdae and Minseok meet one another for the first time during orientation and immediately hit it off. During the week before classes, the two really get to know one another and there might just be a spark.

Bad Prompt 1: Jongdae is a college freshmen who is just looking for a bit of love. When he attends his first college orientation, he meets hottie Minseok, one of the orientation leaders. The two are put in a group together and immediately hit it off, lowkey flirting and getting to know one another through fun exercises and games. When Minseok asks Jongdae out on a date, he can't help but say yes. The two progress through the first few weeks of the year trying to get to know one another better, and possibly feeling a spark that may lead to love. But Jongdae realizes this is Minseok's senior year, and what will he do when the boy leaves him? (this is too specific)

Bad Prompt 2: Jongdae and Minseok think they're falling in love. (this is too vague)

  8. Ot3+ prompts are definitely welcome, so feel free to submit them!
  9. Feel free to submit as many prompts as you like! Whether that's just one, or 20! Though, if you do submit more than one prompt, be sure to fill out one form for each prompt (if you don't, your prompts may get lost or confused).
  10. Please be sure to follow all rules above, or else we can't publish your prompt(s) - and we don't want to have to do that!
  11. If there is anything you're uncertain about or still have questions on, please feel free to either comment down below, tweet @ us, send us a message on ask.fm or send us a message here. We will answer any and all of your questions!

Prompt Form/Questions:

These are the questions you will see on the prompt form, please be sure to fill them all out.

pairing/member: who you want to see paired up for a group project

rating: g, pg, pg13, r, nc17, any/all, other

prompt: this is where your prompt goes!

extra credit: any side pairings, extra info, things that earn a golden star!

flunked out: the things you don't want to see at all!

triggers/warnings: things like character death, self harm, depression, etc. Any and all triggers/warnings need to be placed here.

contact info: your LJ/twitter/kkt/line/email address (feel free to give us all of them, or just the one you check the most!)

Prompting Form

And that's about it for now! Prompting opens on May 21st and please feel free to ask us any questions before/after that date. We look forward to seeing all of our students' lovely prompts!

If you're having any difficulty with the prompting form and it isn't letting you submit, please feel free to comment down below with your prompt info.
